The "ökotherm" catalyzer is situated around the fan element behind the back wall of the oven. As the fan draws in oven air during cooking, it passes through the catalyzer where the grease, smells and smoke are broken down into two basic components: water vapor and CO2 . Clean air is then circulated back into the oven where the process is repeated over 90 times each minute.

Unlike other oven cleaning systems, the "ökotherm®" process helps to prevent the build-up of grease and also puts a stop to smoke and lingering cooking odors being released from the oven, which pollute the kitchen.

All this happens at normal cooking temperatures - there is no need for a specific high temperature cleaning cycle, which would render the oven unusable for hours.
